Introduction

In the figures below we show the time series of voter fraud (election challenge) tweets per minute, as well as timestamps of President Trump’s tweets.

Keywords

We use the following keywords to filter and collect tweets from Twitter Stream API:

  • Voter Fraud: election fraud, election manipulation, illegal voters, illegal votes, dead voters, noncitizen voting, noncitizen votes, illegal voting, illegal vote, illegal ballot, illegal ballots, dirty voter rolls, vote illegally, voting illegally, voter intimidation, voter suppression, rigged election, vote rigging, voter fraud, voting fraud, vote fraud, vote buying, vote flipping, flipped votes, ballot stuffing, ballot box stuffing, ballot destruction, voting machine tampering, rigged voting machines, voter impersonation, election integrity, election rigging, duplicate voting, duplicate vote, ineligible voting, ineligible vote, ballot harvesting, voter purge, voter purges, voter purging, alien voting, voter coercion.

  • Election Challenge: blue shift, red mirage, vote count, ballot count, vote recount, ballot recount, ballot challenge, signature cure, election judge.

In the voter fraud (election challenge) figure, we only show the tweets that contain at least one keyword of the kind.

Types of Tweets

We focus on two types of voter fraud (election challenge) tweets:

  • Original Tweets: The tweets that only contain original content, and didn’t retweet or quote any other people’s tweets.

  • Quote Trump: The tweets that quoted Trump’s tweets (@realDonaldTrump).

Content of Figure

The figures are interactive. They support the following operations:

  • Turn on/off time series (click on the items in the legend).
  • Change the coverage of the window (re-size/drag the blue slider below the figure).
  • Zoom in (click on the Zoom icon in the upper right corner then drag in the figure).

The figures show:

  • Time series of the original/quote tweets per minute.
  • 10-min moving average of the original/quote tweets (click on the items in the legend to show).
  • Trump’s tweets that are not censored (dashed vertical lines with pins on both sides).
  • Trump’s tweets that are censored (solid vertical lines with pins on both sides).

We recommand using the Trump Tweet Archive to explore and filter Trump’s tweets.
